Das Perlmutt-Armband meiner Gro\u00dfmutter lag jahrelang in einer Schublade und sah vollkommen matt aus. Fast kreideartig. Ich dachte, es sei unwiederbringlich besch\u00e4digt. Dabei hatte es einfach noch nie jemand richtig gereinigt. Zwanzig Minuten sp\u00e4ter, mit der richtigen Methode, war der irisierende Glanz wie neu zur\u00fcckgekehrt. Wenn also bei dir ein St\u00fcck irgendwo liegt, weil es m\u00fcde aussieht, hier ist genau, wie man Perlmutt reinigt \u2013 ohne es dabei zu ruinieren.<\/p>\n

Was Perlmutt eigentlich ist und warum es eine schonende Reinigung braucht<\/h2>\n

Perlmutt ist die irisierende Innenschicht bestimmter Muschelschalen. Dieselbe Nacre-Substanz, aus der auch Perlen bestehen \u2013 nur flacher und in gr\u00f6\u00dferem Ma\u00dfstab. Diese geschichtete Struktur erzeugt das wechselnde Regenbogen-Schimmern, das man sieht, wenn man ein St\u00fcck ins Licht h\u00e4lt. Wirklich wundersch\u00f6nes Material. Aber genau diese Struktur ist auch der Grund, warum die Pflege von Perlmutt-Schmuck mehr \u00dcberlegung braucht als die Reinigung von Gold oder Diamanten.<\/p>\n

\"01.<\/p>\n

Nacre ist im Vergleich zu den meisten Edelsteinen weich \u2013 ungef\u00e4hr so hart wie Perlen. Es ist au\u00dferdem por\u00f6s. Aggressive Chemikalien besch\u00e4digen es. Zu viel Feuchtigkeit besch\u00e4digt es. Abrasive Werkzeuge besch\u00e4digen es. Und sobald Nacre zerkratzt oder chemisch ange\u00e4tzt ist, l\u00e4sst sich das nicht mehr r\u00fcckg\u00e4ngig machen. Wer von Anfang an wei\u00df, wie man Perlmutt richtig reinigt, sch\u00fctzt St\u00fccke, die bei richtiger Pflege wirklich Generationen \u00fcberdauern k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

So reinigt man Perlmutt an Halsketten<\/h2>\n

Bei einer Perlmutt-Halskette gewinnt immer die sanfte Methode. Mische eine winzige Menge mildes Sp\u00fclmittel \u2013 Babyshampoo funktioniert gut \u2013 in eine Sch\u00fcssel mit lauwarmem Wasser. Tauche ein weiches Tuch ein, wringe es aus, bis es nur noch leicht feucht ist. Wische jedes St\u00fcck einzeln entlang der Kette ab. Tauche die ganze Kette nicht ins Wasser \u2013 das gef\u00e4hrdet den Faden, der alles zusammenh\u00e4lt, besonders bei \u00e4lteren St\u00fccken.<\/p>\n

\"02.<\/p>\n

Nachdem du die Seifenl\u00f6sung \u00fcber die Oberfl\u00e4che gewischt hast, gehe mit einem sauberen Tuch und klarem Wasser noch einmal dr\u00fcber, um R\u00fcckst\u00e4nde zu entfernen. Lege die Kette flach auf ein trockenes Handtuch. Lass sie vollst\u00e4ndig an der Luft trocknen, bevor du sie weglegst. Das dauert insgesamt vielleicht zehn Minuten. Das ist wirklich die sicherste Methode, um eine Perlmutt-Halskette zu reinigen, ohne Nacre oder den Faden zu gef\u00e4hrden.<\/p>\n

Reinigung von Armb\u00e4ndern und anderen tragbaren St\u00fccken<\/h2>\n

Armb\u00e4nder und Ringe verzeihen etwas mehr als aufgef\u00e4delte Ketten, da kein Faden geschw\u00e4cht werden kann. Die gleiche Methode mit dem feuchten Tuch funktioniert auch hier. Nimm dir nur mehr Zeit bei Verschl\u00fcssen und Fassungen, wo sich Schmutz sammelt. Ein weicher, trockener Wattest\u00e4bchen hilft, in engere Stellen rund um Krallen zu kommen, ohne etwas zu zerkratzen.<\/p>\n

\"03.<\/p>\n

Bei St\u00fccken mit verklebten Elementen \u2013 Perlmutt z. B. in einen Rahmen ohne Krallen eingesetzt \u2013 verzichte komplett auf Einweichen. Feuchtigkeit schw\u00e4cht Kleber \u00fcber Jahre hinweg bei wiederholtem Kontakt. Bei solchen St\u00fccken bleib also beim Abwischen statt jeglichem Einweichen, auch nur kurz. Trockne danach sofort gr\u00fcndlich, um die Feuchtigkeitseinwirkung zu minimieren.<\/p>\n

Produkte und Werkzeuge, die man komplett vermeiden sollte<\/h2>\n

Manche Produkte zerst\u00f6ren Perlmutt schnell und dauerhaft. Verzichte auf ammoniakhaltige Reiniger \u2013 sie zersetzen Nacre chemisch. Verzichte auch auf Essig, trotz seines Rufs als nat\u00fcrlicher Reiniger; die S\u00e4ure \u00e4tzt die Oberfl\u00e4che innerhalb von Minuten. Bleiche ist ohnehin tabu. Dampfreiniger und Ultraschall-Reinigungsger\u00e4te \u2013 beide gut f\u00fcr Diamanten und Gold \u2013 sind f\u00fcr das relativ weiche Nacre viel zu aggressiv und k\u00f6nnen es rei\u00dfen oder abl\u00f6sen.<\/p>\n

\"04.<\/p>\n

Verzichte auch auf Zahnb\u00fcrsten und abrasive Reinigungswerkzeuge, selbst wenn sie als \u201eweich\u201c angepriesen werden. Die Borsten erzeugen Mikrokratzer, die die Oberfl\u00e4che mit der Zeit matt machen, oft ohne dass man es sofort bemerkt. Ein weiches Tuch und sanfte Wasserreinigung reichen wirklich f\u00fcr alles aus, was Perlmutt braucht. Alles St\u00e4rkere l\u00f6st ein Problem, das nicht existiert, und schafft eines, das dann existiert.<\/p>\n

Tipps zur Perlmutt-Pflege f\u00fcr langfristige Erhaltung<\/h2>\n

Neben der eigentlichen Reinigung machen ein paar Gewohnheiten einen echten Unterschied. Trage Parfum, Haarspray und Lotion auf, bevor du Perlmutt-Schmuck anlegst \u2013 nie danach. Diese Chemikalien lagern sich auf der Oberfl\u00e4che ab und stumpfen den Glanz mit der Zeit ab. Nimm die St\u00fccke vor dem Schwimmen oder Duschen ab. Kurzer Kontakt beim Reinigen ist in Ordnung.
